Summary
Report on the OBE Sensitisation Workshop held on 28th January 2023
The OBE Sensitisation Workshop was held on 28th January 2023 at 360 Degree Hall, starting at 9:00 AM and concluding at 4:30 PM. The workshop was attended by all Heads of Departments, Directors, and the Principal. The primary aim of the workshop was to help the participants understand the revised Bloom's taxonomy and the three domains of learning and to design instruction for attaining the course outcomes ensuring good alignment between course outcomes, assessment, and instruction.
The participants were required to complete pre-work before the workshop, which involved selecting a topic from their current course and mapping it to a course outcome. They then had to create a teaching-learning plan, execute the plan in the workshop taking the other participants as learners, and present assessment questions (at least two) that were mapped to the outcome.
The workshop was divided into several sessions, starting with the "Teach to Learn" session where participants presented their pre-work. The next session was the "Baseline Pre-quiz," which was aimed at assessing the participants' current understanding. The following session, "Why we are here – Demystifying the OBE Framework," aimed to provide an overview of the workshop's purpose and goals.
The "Understanding the OBE Framework" session focused on adopting the framework in all activities in a holistic way, while the "LXD way of Understanding the Bloom’s Taxonomy" session delved deeper into the Bloom's Taxonomy. In the "Understanding our Learning Styles" session, the relationship between different learning frameworks was explored.
The "Teaching Learning – the OBE Way" session focused on adopting a standard framework in the QA lens. The "Creating a pipeline of events for the evolution of new strategy" session aimed to help participants create a roadmap for implementing the new OBE framework. The "Meaningful Assessments in alignment with course outcome" session stressed the importance of creative assessments and the ways to include creativity.
Finally, the "Working Groups - Way forward" session aimed to provide a platform for participants to discuss and collaborate on the implementation of the OBE framework.
Overall, the OBE Sensitisation Workshop was a success and helped participants understand the revised Bloom's taxonomy, the three domains of learning, and the OBE framework. The workshop also provided participants with the tools and resources needed to implement the framework in their respective departments.
