Our Department of Physics, KPR institute of Engineering and Technology organized an state level webinar on βNanostructured Materials for Energy and Environmental Applicationsβ on 25-08-2023 at 3:00 PM through online mode using google meet platform. Dr. Arpan Kumar Nayak, Research Professor from Konkuk University, South Korea has delivered the lecture. A total number of 46 participants (external and internal) from actively participated in the programme and benefited.
In recent years, metal oxides play a key role in environmental remediation and pollutant sensing and are strategic also in several other applications including energy production, conversion and storage. Metal oxides exhibit a great variety of functional properties, strongly dependending on their crystal structure, morphology, composition, intrinsic defects, doping, etc., which determine their optical, electrical, chemical and catalytic properties. Growth methods and process parameters strongly govern the morpho-structural characteristics and therefore the physico-chemical properties of metal oxides. So, in the webinar different methods of preparing nano structures, role of temperature, surfactants on the nanostructures were elaborated in detail. Also, the preparation of various metal oxides using different methods were also discussed. Futher, the screeing of the prepared nanomaterials for both supercapacitor, battery and photocatalytic applications were discussed with their results. After the webinar session, participants raised the questions and all the questions were promptly answered by the speaker.
