The contest attracted enthusiastic participation from civil engineering students across various universities and institutions in India. Teams consisting of undergraduate students eagerly took on the challenge to showcase their concrete-making skills and knowledge. Participants diligently worked on their mix designs, carefully considering the various factors influencing concrete strength. They conducted thorough research, consulted with mentors and faculty advisors, and utilized concrete laboratory facilities to prepare their concrete mixtures.
Teams employed a combination of different cement types, aggregate gradations, and admixtures to tailor their mix designs for optimal performance. Some teams experimented with supplementary cementitious materials and special additives to enhance the properties of their concrete. After casting their concrete cubes, participants meticulously cured them under controlled conditions to ensure proper hydration and strength development. The cubes were then carefully labeled and stored until the day of testing. On the day of the competition, teams eagerly awaited the testing phase. Concrete cubes were carefully retrieved from storage and prepared for compressive strength testing according to standard procedures. Each team's cubes were tested using a compression testing machine to determine their compressive strength at KPRIET Concrete lab.
