A Data Analytics Workshop was organized by IIChE - Students Chapter for chemical engineering students on 30.08.2024 (09.30 a.m to 12.30 p.m) at LIS Lab by Dr. Jithendrien S(Principal Technical Specialist Nokia Networks) & Mr. Vijai V R (Research & Strategy Analyst Thirumalai Chemicals Ltd),aiming to introduce them to essential tools and techniques for handling complex data in their field. The workshop emphasized the growing importance of data-driven decision-making in chemical engineering, covering a range of topics from basic data processing to real-world applications. The sessions provided an overview of data analytics concepts, including data collection, cleaning, and analysis. Participants were introduced to Python, Excel, and MATLAB for performing analytical tasks, with hands-on exercises that focused on practical applications in process optimization and chemical process control. A special emphasis was placed on data visualization using tools like Matplotlib and Excel, helping students present their findings effectively. In addition to lectures, students worked on problems that involved analyzing chemical engineering-related datasets. This allowed them to apply their newly learned skills to solve real-world problems, fostering teamwork and problem-solving abilities. The workshop concluded with positive feedback from participants, who found the training to be highly relevant and practical for their academic and professional pursuits. The event highlighted the increasing role of data analytics in the chemical industry and encouraged further exploration of advanced topics
