Event Report:

The Event "Solar Power Plant Design and Management" organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, started sharply at 9.00 a.m. in the Elective Hall. First, the welcome address was delivered by Mr. N. Udhayakumar followed by the speech of the chief guest Dr. Matheswaran Alagu. Then the lecture started with a summary of the previous lecture. The lecture continued on the Fill Factor and Efficiency of Solar PV modules. Then a brief introduction to Solar radiation, and Solar thermal collectors followed by the Instruments for measuring Solar radiation (Pyranometer, Pyrheliometer). Finally, the Single Line Diagram (SLD) and the reading of SLD were discussed in the Interactive Manual. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Giyani Ncube. Ten students from 2nd year Mechanical benefitted by this session.
