Summary
The Department of English organized an FDP, titled "Exploring the Intersection of Teaching and Cognition" from 15.05.2023 to 19.05.2023, from 11.00 am to 12.00 noon, through zoom platform. The objective of the 5 -day FDP is to enlighten the faculty members on new teaching strategies and expose them to various learning strategies to accommodate the digital natives. Dr. M. Natarajan, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Foreign Languages, Karaikudi, was the key note speaker on 15.05.2023. He deliberated on the topic, β€œRole of Media in Teaching Literature” and offered insights on teaching English Language through Tamil Literature. The speaker on 16.05.2023, Prof. J. Mariyam Nancy, Assistant Professor, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology, Chennai, explored on the topic, β€œBookend Method of Teaching” and propagated innovative approaches to create a conducive learning environment. On the third day, 17.05.2023, Dr. P. Malathy, Assistant Professor, Govt Arts and Science College for Women, Coimbatore threw light on the topic, β€œELT Research in Engineering Verticles” and presented her views on ELT theories and research. On 18.05.2023, Dr. P. Nagaraj, Professor and Head, Bharathiar University, lectured on β€œEnglish Language Teaching beyond Borders” and spoke on the subtlety revolving around English language. Dr. P.R. Sujatha Priyadharashini, Assistant Professor, Anna University, reflected on β€œCritical Thinking” and highlighted a few methods to nurture lateral thinking among students on 19.05.2023. A total of 114 participants were benefited out of the event and showed remarkable interest towards learning the new trends of teaching. The sessions were highly interactive and fruitful for the participants..
