The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (Autonomous), Arasur, Coimbatore, organized a four-day course titled “U21OCS32 – Modern Product Security and Resilient Engineering” for IV semester B.E. CSE students (sections A, B, C and D). The course was coordinated and delivered by Dr. Nisha Soms, Associate Professor, Department of CSE, under the guidance of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The programme was conducted successfully over four consecutive days, focusing on foundational to advanced aspects of software and product security.
The primary objective of the course was to sensitize students to modern cybersecurity threats and enable them to design and implement secure and resilient software products. On successful completion of the course, the students are able to
1: Identify common security threats and apply secure design principles during software development.
2: Implement basic cryptographic functions and secure coding techniques in programming.
3: Describe the importance of PKI and the need for transition to quantum-resistant algorithms.
The course adopted a blend of ICT usage, industrial/real-world case discussions, hands-on labs, activity-based learning and mini-project style lab tasks, ensuring both conceptual clarity and practical exposure
