Strategic Plan 2026-2030

From a leading institution to a research-driven institution.

KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology has set a clear course for the four academic years from 2026-27 to 2029-30. This plan states the direction the institute has chosen, the nine areas it will build in, and how each year will move us forward. Detailed year-wise targets for every department stand behind this plan and are reviewed by the institute every academic year.

Message

From the Principal

Institutions grow when they choose a direction and hold to it. This Strategic Plan is our commitment for the four academic years from 2026-27 to 2029-30. It covers every dimension of the institute: our departments, our faculty, our research, our students and their careers, our recognition, our campus, and our responsibility to society.

Behind each area of this plan is a detailed set of measurable, year-wise targets, owned by departments and reviewed every academic year by the Planning and Development Committee. Some of what we have set out is ambitious. That is deliberate. An institution that aims only at what is comfortable will never know what it is capable of.

I invite every student, parent, faculty member, alumnus and partner of KPRIET to read this plan and to be part of it.

Dr. M. AkilaPrincipal

Where we will build

Nine strategic pillars

Each pillar sets out what the institute will do over the plan period. Departments carry year-wise targets under every pillar, and progress is reviewed each academic year. Much of this plan is already in motion: the institute has launched a family of named initiatives, each of which appears under the pillar it serves. Select a pillar to read it in full.

Pillar 1

Academic and Department Excellence

Every department will hold itself to national standards.

Read pillar

Every department will hold itself to national standards.

  • Secure NBA accreditation for all eligible UG and PG programmes, in planned phases across the four years. Outcome-based education at KPRIET runs on OLIVE, the institute's own framework that guides every faculty member and student through course outcomes, assessment and accreditation readiness.
  • Introduce new programmes and grow student strength steadily, with quality of intake and outcomes protected at every step.
  • Take learning digital through DON, the institute's Moodle-based learning platform, and build computational depth across branches through MOVIE, which brings MATLAB and Simulink into everyday coursework.
  • Host national and international conferences every year, and sustain a strong calendar of FDPs, STTPs and industry guest lectures.
  • Add and upgrade laboratories, special labs and Centres of Excellence every year.
  • Expand active MoUs with industries and foreign universities, and put every MoU to work in teaching, projects and placements.
  • Offer value-added courses and industry one-credit courses across departments.

Pillar 2

Faculty Strength and Development

Great institutions are built by great faculty.

Read pillar

Great institutions are built by great faculty.

  • Improve the student-faculty ratio year on year.
  • Raise the share of Ph.D.-qualified faculty steadily, with the remaining faculty pursuing doctoral study.
  • Send faculty into industry and R&D organisations for immersive internships and training.
  • Support post-doctoral fellowships and visits to foreign universities from every department.
  • Train faculty continuously in emerging technologies through ATAL, NITTT, NPTEL and allied programmes.
Pillar 3

Research, Innovation and Consultancy

Research is the engine of our 2030 ambition.

Read pillar

Research is the engine of our 2030 ambition.

  • Grow sponsored research funding and seminar grants year on year.
  • Build consultancy and Centre of Excellence revenue as a steady stream alongside sponsored research.
  • Raise both the volume and the quality of publications in SCI, Scopus and WoS indexed journals, and grow citations per faculty.
  • Expand the patent portfolio, from filing through to grant, and take research to market through technology transfer and product commercialisation.
  • Complete interdisciplinary projects in every department, every year.
  • Turn ideas into enterprises through IGNITE, the entrepreneurship programme of the institute's Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development, and take student and faculty start-ups through to MSME registration.
  • Expand the doctoral programme with growing cohorts of full-time and part-time scholars, and widen the base of recognised research supervisors.

Pillar 4

Holistic Student Development

Every KPRIET student will graduate with more than a degree.

Every KPRIET student will graduate with more than a degree.

  • Ensure every student, up to the pre-final year, takes part in hackathons, projects and paper presentations.
  • Follow every student's journey, curricular and beyond, through SHINE, the institute's holistic progress record, so that no talent goes unnoticed and no gap goes unaddressed.
  • Drive completion of proctored MOOCs and international certifications across the student body.
  • Place students in internships at top MNCs, foreign universities, IITs and NITs.
  • Support students proceeding to higher education in India and abroad, with international pathways guided by GLOBE under the KPR International Centre.
  • Build a winning sports culture, from district level to international competition.
  • Bring alumni into campus life through regular interaction programmes in every department.
  • Sustain strong pass percentages and graduation rates across UG and PG programmes.

Read pillar

The campus will grow with the institution. Over the four years, KPRIET will add:

  • Academic: a new academic block, additional classrooms, computer laboratories and seminar halls, an expanded library, an innovation centre and a tech park.
  • Residential and welfare: a new boys' hostel and hostel expansion, staff quarters, a guest house, a medical centre and an expanded food court.
  • Sports and culture: a 5,000-seat auditorium, music and dance studios, and a sports complex with a synthetic track.
  • Campus systems: a new sewage treatment plant and expanded parking.

Year by year

The four-year journey

Each academic year of the plan has a distinct character. Together the four years take KPRIET from a leading institution to a research-driven one.

2026-27

Build the Base

The first phase of NBA accreditation covers the major UG programmes. The institute's family of flagship initiatives, from STRIDE, KINDLE and ASPIRE in skilling and careers to SHINE, OLIVE, DON, MOVIE, IGNITE, GLOBE and CLAIRE across student development, academics, innovation and AI, takes root in every department. New laboratories, a new boys' hostel, expanded computer facilities and upgraded campus amenities lay the foundation for growth.

2027-28

Widen the Front

NBA accreditation extends to further UG programmes and begins at PG level. The MBA programme is launched. A medical centre and additional classrooms come up. Research funding, publications and the doctoral programme continue to grow.

2028-29

Deepen the Core

PG programmes complete NBA accreditation. A new academic block, a 5,000-seat auditorium, an expanded library, an innovation centre, and music and dance studios transform the academic and cultural life of the campus.

2029-30

Lead

The institute consolidates its position among the leading engineering institutions in the country. A tech park, a sports complex with a synthetic track, staff quarters, a guest house and expanded hostels complete the plan period.

Accountability

How we will track progress

A plan is only as good as its review. The Strategic Plan is compiled and monitored by the Planning and Development Committee, chaired by the Principal. Every pillar carries detailed year-wise targets, assigned to departments and offices. Progress is reviewed each academic year against the year's targets, and the outcomes inform the next year's plan. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell audits the process.
