The Orientation Programme was successfully conducted for the students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The programme enabled students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the department's academic ecosystem, mentoring framework, student governance structure, and various opportunities available for their professional growth. Students actively interacted with faculty coordinators and mentors, clarified academic and career-related queries, and demonstrated enthusiasm towards participating in departmental activities.
The sessions created awareness about Outcome Based Education (OBE), higher education opportunities, placement preparation strategies, industry collaborations, internships, value-added certifications, innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives, and research activities. Students expressed keen interest in joining professional societies, participating in hackathons, pursuing certifications through NPTEL and SWAYAM, and engaging in research, project development, and publication activities. The programme also facilitated the identification of student representatives and coordinators for various departmental portfolios, thereby strengthening student participation and leadership.
As a result of the programme, students developed a clear roadmap for academic progression, career planning, skill enhancement, and industry readiness. The orientation effectively motivated students to make optimum use of the opportunities provided by the department and institution for achieving academic excellence and professional success.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, organized the Orientation Programme for II and III Year students for the Academic Year 2026–2027. The programme commenced with the address by the Head of the Department, who welcomed the students and outlined the department's vision, mission, academic expectations, and opportunities available for holistic development.
The programme included sessions on Mentoring System and Student Governance, Outcome Based Education (OBE), Career Advancement Cell (CAC), Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC), STRIDE Skill Development Initiatives, Employability and Industry Readiness, Certifications and Professional Development, Innovation and Entrepreneurship through CIIED, and Research, Publications, and Career Opportunities. Faculty coordinators presented the objectives, activities, and benefits associated with each portfolio and highlighted the opportunities available for student engagement.
Students were briefed on academic regulations, credit requirements, assessment processes, professional ethics, code of conduct, and campus facilities. Sessions on higher studies, GATE preparation, research fellowships, internships, industrial visits, placement readiness, technical skill development, and entrepreneurship encouraged students to plan their academic and professional careers effectively. The research and innovation session provided insights into project development, publications, patents, funded projects, competitive coding, and participation in national-level competitions.
The programme concluded with an open house interaction where students shared feedback and clarified their queries regarding academics, placements, research, and extracurricular activities. Overall, the event served as an effective platform to orient students towards departmental objectives, enhance awareness of available opportunities, and motivate them to actively participate in academic, research, innovation, and career development activities throughout the academic year.
