The Department of Chemical Engineering organized an expert talk on βRisk and HAZOP Analysisβ for the third-year Chemical Engineering students. The session was conducted at 12.00 noon in the Third Year Lecture Hall, with an alumnus from the Class of 2022, currently working as a Safety Engineer, serving as the resource person. The expert shared valuable insights into the principles and practices of risk assessment and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) analysis, drawing from his professional experience in the industry. The session enabled students to understand the importance of systematic hazard identification, risk evaluation, process safety, and accident prevention in chemical industries. Real-world examples and industry-oriented perspectives helped students relate their academic knowledge to practical safety applications. The interaction also provided students with an understanding of the responsibilities and career opportunities associated with safety engineering and process safety. Overall, the expert talk enhanced the studentsβ awareness of industrial safety practices and strengthened their understanding of the role of risk and HAZOP analysis in ensuring safe and reliable chemical process operations.
