The Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIIED) and the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, jointly organised a placement training session titled "Igniting Innovation: Developing a Future-Ready Mindset in the AI Era" on 10 October 2026. The session was held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Thanam Hall, Bhaskara Block, in offline mode. It was attended by final year and pre final year EEE students and faculty members.
The resource persons were Dr. Sathya Thangavel, Assistant Professor, Department of Soft Skills and Communication, and Prof. Surjyabrat Buragohain, Professor, Human Resources, both from ICFAI Business School, Bengaluru. The programme began with a welcome address and an introduction of the resource persons, who were told about the purpose of the session and its role in the students' placement preparation.
Dr. Sathya Thangavel spoke on the importance of communication, confidence, teamwork and professional presentation in the AI era. She gave practical guidance for group discussions and personal interviews, and explained how soft skills set a candidate apart when technical knowledge is similar.
Prof. Surjyabrat Buragohain gave the Human Resources perspective on recruitment. He explained what employers expect from fresh graduates and how Artificial Intelligence is changing job roles and hiring practices. He emphasised adaptability, continuous learning, ethical use of technology and a growth mindset as the key qualities of a future-ready professional.
The students took an active part in the interaction and asked questions on career planning, interview preparation and staying relevant in an AI-driven industry. The resource persons answered them with practical examples.
As outcomes, the students gained clarity on employer expectations, became aware of the impact of AI on careers, and learned practical tips for placement preparation. The session also strengthened the Department's links with ICFAI Business School, Bengaluru. The programme ended with a vote of thanks.
